We will paint views of the San Mateo County History Museum from Courthouse Square. The museum is housed in the 1910 County Courthouse which is on the National Register of Historic Places. The inside of the rotunda is as beautiful on the inside as the dome is on the outside, so you may wish to pay museum admission, $6 for adults and $4 for seniors, to view the courthouse from the inside. Parking: There is parking at the Jefferson Parking Garage, 830 Jefferson Ave map, which is free for first 1½ hours and $0.25 each hour thereafter. Take your ticket with you and pay at the machine before you go back to your car. Click here for additional parking options including metered parking on the street. Directions: Drive north on US-101 to Redwood City, take exit 408 for CA-84 W/Woodside Rd, continue for about 0.4 miles, as soon as you have gone through the underpass under US 101 turn right onto Veterans Blvd and go 0.7 miles, turn left onto Main St and go 0.2 miles, turn right onto Broadway and go about 0.1 miles to the intersection of Jefferson Ave. Either continue another block and the history museum is on the right or turn left onto Jefferson Ave, go ½ block and the parking garage is on the right (look for “Public Parking” sign). If you can handle your art gear on the train, the Redwood City CalTrain station is only about 2 blocks from the History Museum. From the train walk north on Winslow Street away from the railroad tracks for one block, turn right on roadway and walk 1 ½ blocks and the museum is on your left.
