Hike & Sketch or Sit & Paint at Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park, 101 N Big Trees Park Rd, Felton 95018

Options for non-hikers: There are beautiful giant redwoods very close to the parking lot or take a very short walk to Roaring Camp Railroad Station with its quaint buildings and steam train.  Options for hikers:  Redwood Loop Trail is less than one mile or combine this with river trail which leads to the railroad trestle over the San Lorenzo River which is about 1.5 miles.  Meet in front of the Visitor Center. Due to distance from the Bay Area and park entrance fee, carpooling is encouraged. 

Directions to Henry Cowell SP:  Take Highway 17 toward Santa Cruz. Turn right on Mt. Hermon Road, and follow it until it ends at Graham Hill Road, about 3.5 miles. Turn right, and go to the next stop light (Highway 9). Turn left on Highway 9 and go through downtown Felton. The park entrance will be a half mile down on your left. Fee for parking $10 ($9 for seniors aged 62 or older).
