The 1,940-acre Baylands Preserve is one of the largest tracts of undisturbed marshland remaining in the San Francisco Bay. Across the Bay you can see salt marshes with the East Bay hills beyond. There is a substantial resident population of birds as well as being a major migratory stopover on the Pacific Flyway. Near the remodeled Eco-Center is a small duck pond, and a little further is the Lucy Evans Interpretive Center and a boardwalk with panoramic views of the Bay.
Directions: From 101 in Palo Alto take the Embarcadero exit going east, turn left where the road dead ends. Continue past the Duck Pond on the left and park in the parking lot on the left just past the Baylands Nature Preserve Ranger Station and before you cross a bridge. We will meet in the parking lot by the ranger station.
